Principal's Message

Mr. GWelcome to the start of our Second Academic Quarter!  The First Quarter Report Cards will be sent out shortly, along with your student's IEP Quarterly Updates - highlighting your child's progress on obtaining their yearly IEP goals.  New to this year, we will also be attaching an Instructional Improvement Plan (IIP) to your student's Report Card.  If your student has failed a subject, the IIP will highlight the new strategies that staff will be employing with your child, so as to prevent further academic struggle.  We are proud of this new initiative - it fulfills one of our promises to you - to keep your child's success always in our sights, and to tirelessly work with your student, to achieve their academic and behavioral goals!

We also want to encourage parents/guardians to call the school and make an appointment to come in and meet with your child’s Learning Community – our Child Study Team Meetings give you an opportunity to meet with all of your student’s teachers, clinician, school counselor, and School Administrators – one meeting to discuss all your questions and concerns. We are meeting with folks right now, so please don’t hesitate in making this most important appointment – together we can accomplish so much for your child!

I would also like to take a moment to share some important calendar dates for everyone, and they are the following:

1. 2nd Quarter Academic Progress Reports – December 15th, 2017.
2. 2nd Quarter Report Cards and IEP Quarterly Reports – January 19th, 2017.
3. Thanksgiving Holiday – School Closed November 22, 23, and 24, 2017.
4. Christmas Holiday – School Closed December 22, and reopening on January 2, 2017.
5. NYS Regents Testing Week – January 22, 2017 – January 25, 2017.

As we proceed through the 2nd Quarter, we will be coming into the heart of the Holiday Season, and for this understanding, I would ask that we take this opportunity to take time out of our busy schedules to model and discuss with our children the importance of valuing the gifts of the season – the understanding of charity, generosity, compassion, empathy, and gratitude. How much can we better our country, community, school, family and children, if we would just take a little time to re-introduce our students to these wonderful “gifts”!

To all – a very HAPPY and HEALTHY HOLIDAY SEASON from our family to yours!

As always, in service to you –

David Gualtiere
